Transphobia is not a phobia stop denigrating people and pathetically trying to get attention.

Transphobia is NOT a damn phobia. It is absolutely hyperbolic used to denigrate someone and get attention. Normally I give a free pass for people miss using psychological terms, however here people are using the term as an attack on their opponent for use of certain terms “male”, “female”. A phobia is defined very specifically in psychology and the DSM-V as being so fearful it interferes with your life. It’s marked anxiety or fear. Almost always causes immediate fear/anxiety. It’s out of proportion. As stated it interferes with their life. Just because some of these people in the news and in general disagree with the use of terminology “male/female” does not make them phobic of these people. It means they are simply linguistically distinguishing between groups usually based on genitalia. They are actually making an academically appropriate argument. That is if you choose to use the word male as indicating male genitalia and female as indicating female genitalia then it is correct. Furthermore beyond the genitalia we/they are talking about DNA as well.

Let me give you an example of an actual phobia. Years ago I saw a TV show in which they covered phobias. There was a woman who was so scared of spiders that before going out to her car she would dress up even in the dead of summer only to where only her eyes were exposed. She would rush out to her car I mean run with a huge scrub brush on a long stick and scrub down her entire car. Then throw the brush to the ground and quickly opened the door to the car, jumps in and then immediately check for spiders. This is a fucking goddamned phobia. This is interfering with her life!

Someone on the news who simply disagrees with how we call a man a man and a woman a woman is simply from all of the things I’ve seen differentiating based on the genitalia. Now to get into how people think and feel about their gender and being “trans” is a different post. What I object to is people misusing certain psychological concepts constantly so that it makes the news or a big splash socially. I see it as a pathetic and weak way of gaining attention. Stop it.
